1. Who We Are

Typsnip is a Chrome browser extension that expands text shortcuts into rich formatted content. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use Typsnip.

2. What Data We Collect

Account Data

• Email address — collected when you create an account, used solely for authentication and account management
• Password — stored as a secure hash by Firebase Authentication; we never see your actual password

User-Generated Content

• Shortcuts and templates — the text shortcuts and formatted content you create in Typsnip are stored in your account in Firebase Firestore
• Labels — label names and colors you create to organize shortcuts

Technical Data

• Session information — device type and login timestamps, used to enforce device limits per plan
• Plan/tier — your current subscription tier

What We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect your browsing history
• We do not read the content of pages you visit
• We do not collect text you type on websites (other than within the Typsnip editor itself)
• We do not use cookies on the extension
• We do not collect any data beyond what is listed above

3. How We Use Your Data

• To authenticate you and provide access to your account
• To sync your shortcuts across your devices
• To enforce subscription plan limits (number of shortcuts and devices)
• To send account-related emails (password reset, email verification)
• To process subscription payments (via Stripe)

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the Typsnip service.

4. Data Processors (Third Parties)

We use the following third-party services to operate Typsnip. Each acts as a data processor under our instruction:

Firebase (Google LLC)

We use Firebase Authentication and Firestore (Google Cloud) to store account data and shortcuts. Your data is stored on Google's servers. Google's privacy policy applies: policies.google.com/privacy

Stripe Inc.

Paid subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects your payment card information directly — we never see or store your card details. Stripe's privacy policy applies: stripe.com/privacy

Google AdSense

Users on the Free with Ads tier see advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google may use cookies and your activity to serve relevant ads. This only applies to the Free with Ads plan. Google's advertising privacy policy applies: policies.google.com/technologies/ads

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data or shortcut content with any third parties except as required to operate the service (the processors listed in Section 4) or as required by law.

6. Chrome Web Store — Limited Use Policy

Typsnip's use of data obtained through Chrome extension APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store Limited Use Policy. Specifically:

• We only use extension data to provide and improve Typsnip's core functionality
• We do not transfer user data to third parties except as necessary to provide the service
• We do not use or transfer user data for advertising purposes (except Google AdSense on the explicit Free with Ads tier, with user awareness)
• We do not allow humans to read user data unless required by law or with explicit user consent

7. Data Retention

• Your account data and shortcuts are retained as long as your account exists
• Session data is automatically cleaned up after 30 days of inactivity
• When you delete your account, all your data is permanently deleted from Firestore
• Payment records may be retained by Stripe as required by financial regulations

8. Your Rights & Data Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the Account tab in the Typsnip extension. This permanently and immediately deletes all your shortcuts, labels, and account data from our systems.

• A copy of your data
• Correction of inaccurate data
• Deletion of your account and all associated data

9. GDPR (European Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data. Our legal basis for processing is performance of a contract (providing the service you signed up for). To exercise your rights, contact us at typsnip@gmail.com.

10. CCPA (California Users)

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of its sale. 11. Children's Privacy

Typsnip is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Security

Your data is stored in Firebase Firestore with security rules that ensure only you can access your account data. Passwords are hashed by Firebase Authentication and never stored in plain text. All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes by email. Continued use of Typsnip after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
